Maria Adelina Moitozo, 83, of Newman, passed away March 20 at Doctors Medical Center in Modesto.

Mrs. Moitozo was born on Faial, Azores.

She lived in Newman for 65 years, where she was a homemaker.  She was a parishioner at St. Joachim’s Catholic Church in Newman and a member of the Altar Society.

Mrs. Moitozo is survived by two daughters, Adelaide Mendonca, (John) of Crows Landing, Gloria Moitozo of Newman, a son, Joe S. Moitozo Jr. of Newman, and two brothers, Francisco Moitoso and José Moitoso, both of the Azores; two sisters, Maria Gloria Garcia of Oregon and Rosa Moitoso of Gonzales, and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe S. Moitozo, Sr., and two daughters, Maria da Fatima Moitozo and Elisa Moitozo.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., on Thursday, March 31, at Hillview Funeral Chapel, Newman, with a rosary to follow.  A mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, April 1, at 11:30 a.m. in the Shrine of Our Lady of Miracles, Gustine.  Interment will follow in Hills Ferry Cemetery, Newman.
