Mary Aronhalt was born to Hugh and Gertrude Oldham in Crocker, Mo. She went through school in Missouri and married Noble Hooten in St. Louis, Mo. in 1946. He passed away in 1963, after 17 years of marriage. Mary was a hard worker. She worked in an ammunition plant during World War II and worked for years in a variety of canneries including Hunts in Hayward and Rogers Brothers in Turlock. Even after her years of employment, she kept busy making and selling jewelry at flea markets until age 70. Mary was known for her homemade cookies. Even in later years she kept busy preparing walnuts she had grown for sale. She was also a faithful attendee at Calvary Baptist Church, unless she was sick and unable to get out.
Mary is survived by three children, Louis (Pat) Hooten of Turlock, Rosemary Hooten of Modesto and Janice Hooten of Turlock; brother, James Oldham of Illinois; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 15 at Allen Mortuary. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 16 at Allen Mortuary, followed by burial at Turlock Memorial Park.
