The Turlock High swimming program added to its large collection of accolades last Friday by clinching both varsity team titles at the Central California Athletic League Championships, held at the Pitman High School Aquatics Center.

The Bulldog boys took the top spot in the team standings with 573 points while the Pride finished score with 478. Turlock’s girls team won with 539 points, clearing the runner-up Pride by 95 points.

The Turlock boys were backed by a record-setting performance from the 200 medley relay team. The collective of Ethan Parker, Miles Hakanson, Jacob Packwood and Jasper Reimers posted a time of 1:42.59, a new all-time best mark at the tournament.

Packwood, Parker, Reimers and Corbin Rocha-Long also won the 400 freestyle relay with a 3:24.40 mark.

Reimers contributed further with a standout individual showing, winning both the 200 freestyle (1:51.45) and 50 freestyle (23.09). Parker added a victory in the 100 freestyle (50.46), while Packwood took the 100 butterfly (55.26) and Hakanson won the 100 breaststroke (1:04.17).

Pitman’s Isaac Norenberg was another double winner, claiming the 200 individual medley (2:03.59) and 100 backstroke (55.32). Teammate Braden Silveira added a win in the 500 freestyle (5:03.43). All three times were personal bests for the student-athletes.

Norenberg and Silveira joined forces with Landen Neal and Kai Bennett to claim victory in the 200 freestyle relay (1:31.81).

In girls action, the Bulldogs received strong individual performances from Summer Stricker and Lou Bornman. Stricker captured the 200 freestyle (2:03.73) and the 100 freestyle (57.89), while Bornman won both the 200 individual medley (2:24.22) and the 100 breaststroke (1:12.68). Teammate Kallie Parker in the 100 butterfly (1:07.69).

Relays proved to be a similar strength for the Bulldogs. The grouping of Daphne Lewis, Annie Morrison, Joelle Maggard and Savanna Haase won the 200 medley relay at 2:05.97). Bornman, Stricker, Haase and Faith Maillux claimed victory in the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:58.83.

Pitman’s 200 freestyle relay team of Danielle Henion, Miranda Miramontes, Kaydence Braley and Natalie Davis won with a mark of 1:46.68.

Turlock and Pitman swimmers won all but three events on the evening. Lily Pulido of Enochs won the girls 500 freestyle (5:50.52), and Taylor Monday of Downey won the 50 freestyle (25.78). Gregori’s Isabella Lizarraga also etched her name in the history books with a new CCAL record in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:03.63.
