Busis double-double leads Warriors again

The Cal State Stanislaus women's basketball team defeated Sonoma State 59-53 on Saturday night in Rohnert Park, sweeping the Seawolves for the season.

With the win, the Warriors remain tied for sixth in the California Collegiate Athletic Association with a 9-7 record (11-9 overall). Sonoma State falls to 4-12 in the CCAA and 6-14 overall.

Katie Busi led the Warriors with 17 points and 12 rebounds for her 33rd career double-double, as she went 7-for-17 from the floor and 3 of 7 from the foul line.

In the first half, the score was tied four times, with the largest lead of seven points coming after a layup by Busi at 11:03.

Stanislaus used the first-half momentum to extend the lead to a game-best 11 points after a layup by Lauren Godde at 15:31. Sonoma State took the lead briefly, and for the final time, at 7:14 after a three-pointer by Oly Larkin. But the Warriors regained the lead and held it to secure the win.

Andreanna Marshall had another double-digit night with 14 points. Jameiz Terrell also contributed with eight points for the Warriors.

Defensively, Godde had seven rebounds and Marshall pulled six boards. Busi also led with three blocks.
The Warriors will travel to UC San Diego on Thursday before playing Cal State East Bay on Saturday.
