In a vote by the region's Sports Information Directors, California State University, Stanislaus freshman Karenee Demery was named the Daktronics/CoSIDA West region play of the year on Tuesday.

Demery, a forward from Merced, was the California Collegiate Athletic Association's Most Valuable offensive player of the year after scoring a league leading 18 goals, 42 points and nine game-winning goals. She also added a score at the CCAA conference tournament semifinal match.

Demery is joined on the All-Region first team by Stanislaus sophomore midfielder Alexia Poon, who scored seven goals in her breakout season. The duo led the Warriors to their second conference tournament appearance before finishing 12-6-1 overall.

Both Demery and Poon will now be on the ballot for All-America status.
