A select few Cal State Stanislaus athletes competed on April 27 at the Brutus Hamilton Open/Invitational at Cal with the women's 4x400-meter relay team clocked in one of the fastest times ever recorded by the Warriors.
The relay team, which already had ran a provisional qualifying time earlier in the season, improved on its time on Friday by finishing in 3 minutes and 46.85 seconds. The new season-best time ran by Christina Matthews, Derrhea McLiechey, Misha Strong and Chavariana Ryan, is the second fastest time on the Stanislaus all-time list.
The group entered the week ranked 18th in the country and fifth in the West Region.
In other highlights on Friday, Katie Busi had a personal best in the hammer throw at 170-feet-even. Sian Morgan placed second in the pole vault with a clearance of 11 feet, 11 3/4 inches. Nyesa Enakaya was third in the triple jump (36-10 1/4) and fifth in the long jump (17-3 1/2).
On the men's side, Ryan Gates had a busy day as the team's top thrower with a 174-6 in the hammer to finish first in his flight. He was also fifth in both the shot put (45-5 3/4) and discus (139-0). Kyle Maxwell cleared 14-11 in the pole vault.
