Tennis stars end season among the nation's best

Cal State Stanislaus women's tennis stars Verena Preikschas and Katie Eng were among the nation's bests as the Intercollegiate Tennis Associated released its final rankings last week.
Together, the top Warriors duo finished the season ranked No. 18 after winning the Ojai Tennis Tournament doubles championship. Preikschas finished the year at No. 24 in singles play.
The rankings marked the fourth time that Preikschas finished the season ranked in the top 25. The doubles team also finished in the top 20 nationally in each of the four seasons.
As a team, the Cal State Stanislaus Warriors end the season ranked No. 18 in Division II.
The top 20 singles players and top 10 doubles teams in the final rankings earned All-America honors.
Regionally, the Warriors were ranked No. 5 with three individuals in the top 20. Preikschas closed out her career at No. 7 in the West, freshman Davina Meza is No. 15 and Eng finished at No. 19. The first doubles team ended up with a No. 4 regional ranking.
