Truck and tractor pulls kick off arena events at 108th Stanislaus County Fair

With slightly lower temperatures welcoming community members and visitors to the Stanislaus County Fairgrounds in Turlock last weekend, the FoodMaxx Arena found itself with near-capacity crowds over Friday and Saturday for the return of annual truck and tractor pull competitions.

A total of 86 pulls took place between the two-day arena event, held by L&L Productions as part of its latest stop on the Western American Pulling Tour.

FRIDAY RESULTS

On the fair’s opening day on Friday, the crowd was treated to 45 pulls.

The 8,000-pound Stock Diesel competition saw the most participants on the first day, with Chad Davis besting his seven opponents with a distance of 309.10 feet. Bryson Prock came in second with a mark of 291.54 while Eli Lopez rounded out the top three with a pull of 279.85.

The 6,000-pound Super Stock saw six people compete, with Dave Ramsey taking the top spot with a pull of 253.02 feet. Sam Ramsey came in second at 249.48, while Brylinn Haley earned third with a mark of 242.40.

Also having six competitors in the field was the Limited Pro Stock Diesel contest. Claiming first was Adam Cardoso with a pull of 301.77, followed by Trey Smith (300.76) and Manuel Vierra (294.08).

Five competed in the 8,000-pound Work Stock Diesel contest, won by Nick Valadez and his pull of 286.19 feet. He beat out Derek O’Brien’s mark of 281.84. Coming in third was Brooke Rose with a distance of 276.28 feet.

The Country Modified 4x4 had a field of four and was won by Vicente Saltos with a distance of 276.69. Frank Gookin was the runner-up (275.52) and Ace Rocha finished third (165.17).

The 6,200-pound Pro-Modified 4x4 also had four compete. Finishing first was Jim Vieira with a mark of 262.88. Second was Dalton Crawford (248.57) and third was Doug Bradshaw (247.71).

The 6,000-pound Modified Tractor contest was a duel that saw Derek Alvernaz win with a 265-foot pull, besting Dan Souza’s distance of 250.49 feet.

Ten contests had drivers compete unopposed:

  • 4,500 Super Stock: Chad Arzie (277.76)
  • 5,500 Stock: Katelyn Lopes (158.93)
  • 6,500 Stock: Josiah Landucci (285.27)
  • 5,500 Super Stock: Dalton Allen (248.19)
  • Pro Stock Diesel: John Esteves (253.22)
  • 8,750 Light Limited Pro: Dylan Baballe (303.39)
  • 6,200 Super Modified: Russell Steeley (253.67)
  • 7,400 Modified Tractor: Jim Vieira (355.58)
  • 8,000 Modified Tractor: Jeremy Correia (338.59)
  • Funny Car: Dan Borba (311.10)

SATURDAY RESULTS

Forty-one pulls took place on Saturday night.

The 6,000 Super Stock and 8,000 Stock Diesel events each had seven competitors, tied for most of the weekend.

Jason Hicks won the 6,000-pound Super Stock with a pull of 251.30. The runner-up was Dave Ramsey (249.12) and the third-place finisher was Sam Ramsey (246.65).

As for the 8,000 Stock Diesel contest, it was won by Bryson Prock with a distance of 338.62 feet. Blake Mcgourty finished second (321.62) and Eli Lopez placed third (272.72).

Five competed in the Limited Pro Stock Diesel run, with Brandon Smith coming out on top with a mark of 296.26 feet. The runner-up was Manuel Vierra (294.44) and third was claimed by Eric Rocha (286.55).

The 8,000 Work Stock Diesel and 6,200 Pro-Modified 4x4 contests each had four participants.

Derek O’Brien won the 8,000 Work Stock Diesel with a pull of 283.06 feet, followed by Kody Fonseca 277.90) and Brooke Rose (267.08).

Bob Morrill won the 6,200 Pro-Modified 4x4 with a distance of 271.07 feet. Coming in second was David Tessaro (270.36) and finishing third was Doug Bradshaw (269.10).

Three competed in the Country Modified 4x4 though only two finished. Frank Gookin had a pull of 252.61 to win while Ace Rocha was second at 250.24.

The 4,500 Super Stock was settled between Chad Schieve and Chad Arzie. Schieve won with a pull of 227.63 while Arzie put in a distance of 218.38.

The 6,000 Modified Tractor contest was another head-to-head battle, with Dan Souza claiming first with a distance of 281.19 and Derek Alvernaz coming in second at 271.93.
