Saturday evening brought one of the final events to take place at the FoodMaxx Arena during this year’s Stanislaus County Fair run, as AMP Motocross welcomed youngsters from across the state to compete in 36 competitions across 29 races.
The fair crowd was treated to a handful of dominant performances and several comebacks.
A grand total of 25 competitions finished with riders clinching first in each of their moto stints, and none had more than Stockton’s Alex Campigli.
Campigli swept a pair of intermediate races, the 250 and 450, before claiming victory in the pitbike open and the 13-and-up e-bike open. His four wins marked the most of any of Saturday's racers.
Turlock’s Case Vieira also won his two motos in a pair of race victories. The first win came in the 50cc stock 0-10 competition, and he followed it up with a win in the 12-and-under 70-90cc quad run.
Gavin Bentley of Brentwood experienced similar success, placing first in each moto in both the 250 and 450 pro contests. As did Talon Hinson of Clovis, who swept the heats in the 85 intermediate and open races.
Modesto’s Brayden Soares won both stages of the 250 novice race, and claimed a second race victory in the four-stroke amateur with second-place position in the first moto and a first-place finish in the second.
Similar stories unfolded for Hollister’s James Jurevich and Modesto’s Killian Borrero. Jurevich swept through the 65 open and battled to win the 65 open with third and first place finishes in the event’s respective motos. Borrero won both motos of the 50cc beginner (7-8) race and claimed the 50cc open with second- and first-place finishes over the event’s two heats.
Gustine’s Ryan Souza won the 450 beginner’s “A” race and the 25-plus novice/beginner contest with first-place position in each of the second motos.
