Delhi and Denair High tennis teams both fared well on Friday in the final day of the Southern Athletic League co-ed tennis championship.
In the end, both schools will be sending a total of 10 student athletes to compete at Sections after seeing great results in Friday's finale at Merced College.
Delhi's boys doubles team of Robert Gonzalez and Jorge Carrillo won their bracket outright and four more followed in the Hawks' footsteps.
Runner-ups Adriana Gonzalez and Samantha Munoz will also be moving on to Sections after placing second in the girls doubles bracket for the Hawks.
In mixed doubles, Denair's Cristal Fuentes and Trent Hulbert pulled out a straight sets victory over Delhi's Robert Mendoza and Evelyn Vega.
Denair will also be sending the boys doubles team in Carson and Ryan Haringa, who finished in second place behind Delhi.
“I am so proud of Trent and Cristal,” said Denair head coach Bill Weber. “(They) played smart, didn't get flustered, beat opponents they should not have beaten and played smart, stuck with the plan.”
