The Hilmar volleyball team is on a 12-game winning streak, and that success continued Monday with a 3-0 victory over the visiting Turlock Christian Eagles.

The Yellowjackets, who are now 22-5 overall have won 11 of 12 in straight set wins which included winning the Oakdale tournament this past weekend, dominated the first two games 25-15 and 25-17, but the Eagles did not give up easily.

The third game saw the Eagles take an early lead, but they couldn't quite hold on and Hilmar finished with a 25-20 win.

The leading scorer of the day was Hilmar’s Emily Baptista with 14 kills, 5 aces and 4 blocks.

Other top contributors were Haylee Pearce (29 assists) and Hannah Pearce (22 digs).

“One thing we wanted to do was work on our serving, making sure we didn’t have any missed serves,” said Hilmar’s head coach Patti Harris. “We stayed focused.”

Hilmar, fresh off a tournament win in Oakdale this past Saturday, kept a strong showing as they followed through with the win.

Harris said her team played well despite being fatigued from Saturday’s tournament.

“I think we missed a couple serves in a row in the last, third game,” Harris said. “They’re probably a bit tired, but it was a good game.”

Turlock Christian fell to 7-9 overall with Monday's loss to Hilmar.

Hilmar plays its first league match at home against Ripon at 6:30 p.m. today.

Turlock Christian played a league game against Elliot Christian on Tuesday and will next play Stone Ridge Christian at home at 6 p.m. Thursday.
