Orestimba sweeps Coyotes in two-game series

The Denair High baseball team rebounded from a first game shutout by Orestimba High to come within one run of a win, but in the end lost both games to the Warriors in Southern Athletic League contests.

The Coyotes hosted the visiting Orestimba Warriors in the first game of their two-game series on Tuesday, and took a brutal 17-0 loss in just five inninsg. Come game two Thursday evening Denair brought a different tone to the game but would fall to the Warriors in a heartbreaking 4-3 loss on the Warriors’ home diamond.

In game action in the bottom of the sixth inning the Coyotes were down 3-2 with two out put away. Coyotes batter Preston Roe was able to make contact with the ball sending it to left field where the Orestimba fielder dropped the routine fly ball allowing Denair to tie the game at three a piece. Come the final inning Orestimba was able to load the bases on three walks from the Denair pitcher. The Warriors would secure their win on a hit by pitch walk off to end the game.

Denair is now 2-3 overall and 0-2 in SAL play. Next, they will take on the Ripon Christian Knights in a two-game series next Tuesday and Thursday. Both games are to start at 4 p.m.
