PREP ROUNDUP: Pitman volleyball, Turlock golf end league with perfect records

Pitman High’s volleyball team closes the regular season with a perfect 10-0 record in Central California Athletic League play with a 25-11, 25-10, 25-11 victory over Modesto on Monday.

Now, the Pride (28-2, 10-0) will await the release of the playoff brackets Friday by the Sac-Joaquin Section. Depending on how the Division I bracket does together, Pitman could end up sliding down into the D-II playoffs.

Individually against the Panthers, senior Lauren Hamilton had 15 kills and two ace serves and two blocks, while setter Payton Rowell had 38 assists. Reese Carmona and Maryn Hall had five digs apiece with Ruth Banuelos chipping in with four.

Turlock 3, Gregori 0, at Modesto — The Bulldogs finished the regular season with a 25-12, 25-23, 25-11 win over the Jaguars. Turlock closes the regular season 17-11 overall and 8-2 in the CCAL.

Ashley Pannell and Katie Parker led the Bulldogs with 10 kills apiece, while Lillie Miranda and Alexia Longacre finished with 13 and 11 digs, respectively. Nikkie Miranda had 19 assists, Ella Bernard added 14 assists, and Lauren Parker chipped in with four aces.

 

Girls golf

Turlock perfect The Bulldogs concluded an undefeated run in the Central California Athletic League with a victory in the second CCAL tournament.

Turlock shot a team score of 422 and outdistanced second-place Enochs (448) by 26 strokes. Gregori finished third with a 562.

Individually, Savannah Van Gaalen led the way for the Bulldogs with a round of 74, while teammate Sydney Street carded a 78, good enough for third-place overall. Isabella Dowd contributed an 81 for the champions.

Enochs’ Jordan Williams shot 77 for second place.

Pitman shot a 572 team score and finished fourth overall. Monet Sayadian led the Pride with a round of 85.
