Pride rains pain on Chavez

Pitman High steamrolled Chavez High on Friday, vanquishing the Titans 54-13 in the second game of the season.

The Pride attacked Chavez through the air and on the ground as quarterback Wyatt Clapper threw for two touchdown passes and the backfield recorded a combined seven touchdowns. Senior Brent Nelle led the charge with three rushing touchdowns while senior Kody Brackett and junior Logan Wolfley each ran for two.

“We got it going early,” Pitman’s head coach Brandon Harris said. “We’re happy being at 2-0 but we still have a long ways to go.”

Chavez scored their first touchdown early in the game but trailed 40-7 by halftime. The Titans’ final score happened late in the game with substitute players on the field.

Pitman’s next challenge is Modesto High next Friday at home.

“I’m assuming it’s going to be a real physical game,” Harris said.
