The Turlock High varsity girls soccer team is now tied with Merced for first place in the Central California Conference at 7-1-1 after beating out Buhach Colony at home on Thursday, 1-0.

This now marks the Bulldogs' fifth consecutive win. Turlock is now 6-0-1 in the last seven CCC contests.

“We know we control our own destiny,” said Turlock head coach Cathi Schali-Lopez.

The first half stalemate carried into the closing 11 minutes of the contest.

The Bulldogs lone goal came in the 69th minute when Veronica Hernandez found Kishawna Mavis.

Turlock tallied 15 shots, 10 of which were on goal and Buhach only had one shot on goal that was saved by Caitlyn Duval.

“It was a very physical game and we had several opportunities to score,” said Schali-Lopez. “We finally found the back of the net late in the game. We have six matches left in the CCC. We will focus in on one game at a time with the goals of improving our unity of play and bringing intensity to every game.”

Turlock will travel to Pitman High to take on the Pride at 4 p.m. April 14.
