Kathleen Rojas remembers the heartbreak. On Monday afternoon, the Turlock Christian High senior girls golfer earned her ticket for a chance at redemption after winning the individual title of the Division V Championship at Dry Creek Ranch Golf Club in Galt with a score 8-over-par 80.

It means she gets another shot at the Sac-Joaquin Masters Tournament on Nov. 1 at The Reserve at Spanos Park in Stockton.

Last season, Rojas missed the NorCal Championship cut by one stroke.

This time, she’s getting more support in the tournament. Her younger sister and TC teammate, Esther Rojas, also qualified for the Masters after tying for second place with a score of 86 at the divisional tournament.

Though the Rojas sisters did play during the regular girls golf season because the Eagles do not field a girls team, the duo are eligible to participate in the postseason on an individual basis.
