Modesto Junior College Department of Dance presents “Jam ‘n Jive… A New York State of Mind” at 7 p.m. Sept. 14, 15, 16, and 17 in the Main Auditorium of the Performing and Media Arts Center on East Campus, at 435 College Ave.

The evening of dance will celebrate the rich culture and history of New York through choreography within a variety of styles of musical theater, jazz funk, contemporary and traditional jazz dance. 

In addition to MJC’s Off-Balance Dancers, the high schools involved in this year’s Jam ‘n Jive concert are Beyer, Central Catholic, Central Valley, Ceres, Davis, Downey, Enochs, Gregori, and Modesto.  Also performing are the private dance studios of 5678 Dance, Juline Regional Youth Ballet, Strut Performing Arts, The Dance Academy, and The Dance Factory.

Admission is $10 general and $8 for students and senior citizens.  Students can receive a discounted ticket price of $5 for the Sept. 14 performance by showing their student ID card. Tickets are available online at http://mjc.tix.com and at the Auditorium Box Office, which is open noon to 5 p.m., Tuesdays through Fridays, and at the door beginning 90 minutes prior to each performance.  For more information call 575-6776 during Box Office hours.
