Bicyclist shot in drive-by

A man riding his bicycle early Saturday morning was shot by an unknown assailant in Turlock.

The 28-year-old man sustained one gunshot wound to his upper leg from the incident, said Turlock Police spokesperson Officer Steve Rodrigues.

The shooting happened around 4:30 a.m. Saturday in the area of Lander Avenue and Angelus Street. The incident was reported to the police department after the victim arrived at Emanuel Medical center with the gunshot injury.

The victim told investigators he was riding his bicycle when the driver of a passing car opened fire.

The police did not have any suspect information. The vehicle was described as a late 90s white Oldsmobile. There were no other occupants seen in the car, besides the driver.
