A suspicious car parked in front of an industrial complex caught the attention of a Turlock Police officer and led to the arrest of two people and the recovery of stolen property.
Around 4 a.m. Monday, Officer Queray McMihelk stopped at 2200 Maryann Dr. to check out a car parked outside the gated and locked complex.
Inside the car, sitting in the passenger seat, was Cindy Martinez, 19, and Brandon Cole, 33, who was ducked down in the back seat with a pair of bolt cutters, Turlock Police Lt. Jeff Lopes said.
As McMihelk was making contact with the two in the car, a third person climbed over the fence from the inside of the complex and then took off running into the night. Additional units were called out, but the suspect was not located.
Found in the car were three plastic bins filled with tools and equipment believed to have been stolen out of four different vehicles at the complex, Lopes said. There were also containers of siphoned gas in the car.
Martinez and Cole were booked for second-degree burglary and conspiracy. Cole was also charged with possession of burglary tools and false impersonation of another.
