Collision between vehicle and scooter claims life of 8-year-old boy
fatal collision
The intersection of W. Christoffersen Parkway and Panorama Avenue was closed Wednesday night when a vehicle collided with a boy on a scooter, fatally injuring the child.

An 8-year-old boy Turlock boy lost his life Wednesday evening after being struck by a car while he was on his scooter.

The name of the deceased has not been released as of yet.

The collision happened just before 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of W. Christoffersen Parkway and Panorama Avenue.

The young boy was on his foot-powered scooter and crossing Christoffersen when he was hit by a Toyota sedan that was headed west on Christoffersen.

Turlock police officers, firefighters and emergency medical technicians all arrived at the scene within minutes and began rendering aid to the child and securing the scene, said Turlock Police spokesman Sgt. Russ Holeman.

The child was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries and died.

An 18-year-old woman was driving the Toyota and remained at the scene. The police department said the woman was not impaired and that speed was not a factor in the collision.

The Turlock Police Department Major Accident Investigation Team responded to the scene and assisted with the investigation.

“The Turlock Police Department sends our condolences to the family of all those involved in this tragic incident. The Turlock Police Department will continue to do our best to reduce these incidents from occurring as we work with the public to educate them about safe driving and pedestrian habits,” said Turlock Police Capt.
