A family of four was hospitalized Saturday after their vehicle was struck by a suspected drunken driver.

The four family members — a 32-year-old man, a 28-year-old woman, a 3-year-old child and a 7-month old infant — all sustained moderate to minor injuries in the collision, Turlock Police Sgt. Stephen Webb reported. All were taken to a nearby hospital.

The collision happened around 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the 4500 block of N. Golden State Boulevard.

A 25-year-old male driver of a Mitsubishi was traveling at a high rate of speed northbound on Golden State, when he lost control and hit the median.

The car went airborne over the median and into the southbound lane, where it struck the family’s vehicle.

The Mitsubishi’s driver sustained moderate to severe injuries and was transported to a local hospital, Webb said.

Investigators believe alcohol was a factor in the crash, Webb said. The 25-year-old has not been arrested at this time, though the investigation remains ongoing.
