A Turlock man is facing criminal charges for allegedly pistol-whipping and shooting at another man over a dispute involving the victim’s girlfriend.

The victim reported to the Turlock Police Department that he had been assaulted by Andrew Ratliff, 35, around 1 a.m. Tuesday. The victim told the police there had been an argument involving his girlfriend and then he was attacked.

The victim had a laceration to his head, according to the police department.

A witness in the neighborhood did hear a shot, Turlock Police spokesperson Sgt. Steve Webb said.

Ratliff was arrested at his home in the 3000 block of Radford Way on two felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon.

Ratliff allegedly admitted to punching the victim, but denied shooting at him, Webb said.

Detectives obtained a search warrant for Ratliff’s home to recover the gun, Webb said.
