The Turlock Police Department is investigating a drive-by shooting that injured one man Sunday afternoon.

The victim, a 23-year-old man, sustained a gunshot wound to his hip during the assault. The injury is not considered life-threatening, said Turlock Police spokesperson Officer Mayra Lewis.

The incident happened around 3:30 p.m. Sunday in the 300 block of West F Street.

The victim and a 46-year-old man were walking along F Street when a black four-door vehicle, possibly a Toyota or Nissan, with black rims and no hubcaps drove up next to them.

At least one individual in the vehicle fired at the men and struck the 23-year-old once.

The vehicle was last seen headed eastbound on F Street.

There were believed to be four individuals in the vehicle at the time of the shooting. No other suspect information was available.

The victim was taken by ambulance to a local hospital and is expected to recover from his injury.
