Hit and run collision critically injures one
Police looking for driver

The Turlock Police Department is searching for a hit and run driver who critically injured a pedestrian Monday morning.

The victim was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries, Turlock Police Lt. Nino Amirfar said. The police department is still waiting on positive identification of the victim. He is believed to be between 35 to 40 years old, Amirfar said.

The victim was pushing a shopping cart across Lander Avenue near B Street, around 6:15 a.m. Monday, when he was struck down.

The driver immediately fled the scene.

Witnesses described the vehicle as a dark-colored sports utility vehicle, possible a 2002-2003 Ford Escape. The vehicle may have damage to the passenger side, Amirfar said.
