An early morning collision Friday on Santa Fe Avenue between a vehicle and concrete barrier claimed the life of a 60-year-old Hughson woman, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The woman’s name has not been released, pending next of kin notification.

The accident happened around 6:40 a.m. Friday on Santa Fe Avenue, south of South Avenue.

The woman was driving a 1992 Chevrolet S-10 Blazer northbound on Santa Fe at an undetermined speed. For an unknown reason she allowed the vehicle to drift to the left, across the southbound lane and onto the dirt shoulder, the CHP reported.

The left front of the Blazer struck a large concrete drainage housing before coming to a stop.

The woman sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene of the crash.

The CHP reported the woman was wearing her seat belt at the time of the collision and was not using a cell phone. Alcohol and drugs are not suspected as being contributing factors in the collision. The investigation is ongoing.
