A crash in Delhi that left one dead may have been the result of a drunken driver, the California Highway Patrol reported.

A 68-year-old San Leandro man was killed in Thursday’s crash at the Highway 99 off-ramp to Bradbury Road.

The name of the deceased has not been released.

Nick Salsedo, 50, of Delhi was driving a 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe around 3:30 p.m. Thursday on southbound Highway 99. Salsedo failed to stop at the posted stop sign at the end of the Bradbury Road off-ramp and drove off the overpass, according to the CHP.

The vehicle rolled and came to a rest on its roof, the CHP stated.

The San Leandro man was not wearing a seat belt. He was taken by ambulance to Emanuel Medical Center, where he died from his injuries.

Salsedo sustained major injuries in the crash and was taken by air ambulance to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto. He was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, the CHP said.

The CHP is still investigating the incident and stated alcohol appeared to be a factor in the collision.
