crime-scene-tape

A man’s attempt at helping a stranger came to an unfortunate end when the stranger robbed and ran over him.

The robbery happened around 7:45 a.m. Sunday in the 1100 block of N. Golden State Boulevard.

The victim was approached by a man who asked if he could have some money for gas. The victim obliged, but as he was taking out some cash from his wallet the man grabbed several hundred dollars in cash and took off running, said Turlock Police Department spokesman Sgt. Russ Holeman.

The victim chased after the suspect in an attempt to get his money back. The suspect jumped in a vehicle and started to drive away, with the victim still hanging on to the vehicle. The victim was dragged before falling and being run over by the vehicle. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries, Holeman said.

The only description available of the suspect was that he was Hispanic. The vehicle was described as an older model sports utility vehicle.
