A man was beaten and robbed by a couple while visiting a friend at a Turlock motel.

The victim sustained minor injuries from the assault.

The robbery was reported around 6 p.m. Monday at the Motel 6 at 250 S. Walnut Road.

The victim told Turlock Police officers he had gone to the motel to visit a friend. During the visit a man and woman came into the room and demanded the victim hand over his cell phone, Turlock Police spokesperson Officer Mayra Lewis said.

The victim tried to run out of the room, but was tripped by the woman. While on the ground the man kicked him in the face and then threatened to cut him with a box cutter he was holding, Lewis said.

The couple went through the victim’s pockets, taking his wallet and other personal items before leaving the motel.

The man and woman were known to the victim and the police department is actively investigating the case. The suspects’ names were not released at this time.
