Man threatens student with knife, uses ethnic slurs

The Turlock Unified School District reported a man hurled racial insults and brandished a knife at a student headed to school Tuesday morning.

The student is a female seventh grader at Dutcher Middle School. She reported the incident to a campus security guard and the school contacted the Turlock Police Department.

The girl said she was walking to school when an adult male rode up next to her on a bicycle. The man made several ethnic slurs towards the girl then pulled out a knife and threatened her with it. The girl was not physically harmed.

The incident reportedly happened in the area of Hawkeye Avenue, between Olive and Colorado avenues.

The police department searched the area, but the man was not located. He was described as wearing a black hat and sweatshirt.
