The Turlock Police Department has arrested three individuals and is seeking the whereabouts of a fourth person in connection to the fatal shooting that claimed the life of a Turlock father Saturday.

The arrest of Devenae Price, 24, of Ceres for the murder of 37-year-old Falane Jones of Turlock came about after Price was detained by the Alameda County Sheriff’s Department for what initially stated as a motor vehicle violation, said Turlock Police spokesperson Officer Steve Rodrigues.

Arrested alongside Price and later charged with being accessories after the fact were Kelley Trezvant, 18, of Modesto and Deandranae Campbell, 19, of Livingston. Police are currently seeking the whereabouts of 19-year-old Kevin Barnes, who is wanted on a charge of being an accessory after the fact.

An accessory after the fact charge arises when an individual helps a person destroy evidence and/or elude capture from law enforcement, Rodrigues explained.

Even with the arrests, a potential motive for the shooting of the single father still remains unknown.

“At this point in the investigation we can’t pinpoint a motive,” Rodrigues said. “We just don’t know yet why he was shot.”

Jones was shot four times shortly before 10 p.m. Saturday outside a residence in the 300 block of W. Hawkeye Avenue. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Few leads had developed in the case until 2 a.m. Tuesday when an Alameda County Sheriff’s deputy spotted a vehicle that made a moving violation. Before the deputy could initiate a traffic stop, the driver and three occupants all jumped from the vehicle and ran, Rodrigues said.

A perimeter was established in the San Leandro neighborhood and Price, Campbell, and Trezvant were subsequently apprehended and taken into custody. Barnes was not located.

It was after the arrests that information began to develop about the homicide, leading the sheriff’s department to contact Turlock Police Department investigators.

A gun was recovered during the arrest, but it’s unknown at this time if it was the gun used in the homicide.

Jones was a father to a 9-year-old girl and worked at a Tracy warehouse. His last Facebook post, added just a few hours before his death, talked about how much he loved his mother and father. A Go Fund Me page to help with funeral expenses and help his daughter has been established and is available at www.gofundme.com/22c88wkc.

The police department is seeking Barnes and advises that anyone who spots him should not approach him or attempt to make contact, but rather should call 911.

Price and Trezvant are currently at the Alameda County Jail. Campbell is in custody at the Merced County jail after she was initially released, but then arrested at her Livingston residence. All three are expected to be transferred to the Stanislaus County Jail.

Anyone with information regarding the homicide is encouraged to call Detective Tim Redd at 664-7325.
