Plant vandal identified through social media

A woman seen on video surveillance destroying planter boxes outside a Turlock restaurant has been identified through the widely circulated video on social media.

The woman’s name was not released because she was not arrested, but the case has been sent to the Stanislaus County District Attorney’s Office, and they will determine if charges will be filed.

The video surveillance from 10 East Kitchen and Tap Room on Main Street was taken sometime early Monday and captured footage of a woman destroying a planter box outside the eatery’s patio.

The woman first pulls out the plants and then pries the planter off the railing, causing it to crash to the ground and break.

According to the business’ Facebook page, the woman did the same thing to five other planters.

The video was shared close to 400 times on Facebook and helped one individual identify the suspected vandal at a nearby park.

The Turlock Police responded to the park and identified the woman, but because the property damage was not of an amount to qualify as a felony and because there were no live witnesses to the crime, no arrest was made at the time.
