A suspect’s plan to rob a Turlock convenience store hit a snag when the subject was told there was no money in the register, according to the Turlock Police Department.

The robbery was reported at 9:49 p.m. Sunday in the 800 block of N. Golden State Boulevard.

The clerk at the store said a short and skinny, possibly female, between 20 to 30 years attempted to rob the store. The clerk said the suspect brandished a black firearm that was tucked into the suspect’s waistband.

The suspect was told there was no money in the register and fled on foot, walking around the north side of the building.

The suspect was wearing a face covering and black sweat pants.
