Teens arrested for armed robbery
TPD crime scene

Two 16-year-old Turlock boys were booked into Juvenile Hall on allegations they robbed another teen at knife point.

The Turlock Police Department was able to locate the two suspects by using a locator app on the victim’s cell phone.

The 16-year-old male victim was waiting for a friend outside of Sacred Heart Church around 8:30 p.m. Friday when he was approached by two teenagers.

The teens pulled out knives and demanded the victim hand over his belongings, including his cell phone. The victim complied and the two robbers left the area on foot. They were last seen headed southbound on Rose Street.

The victim reported the robbery to the police and also informed the officers that he had an app installed on his cell phone that would allow him to track it, said Turlock Police spokesperson Officer Mayra Lewis.

Officers followed the data from the app to a location on Merritt Street where they found two teenagers matching the description of the robbery suspects, as well as the cell phone.

The two teens were booked into Juvenile Hall on suspicion of robbery and possession of a dirk or dagger.
