An alert neighbor helped the Turlock Police Department catch two teenage burglars and recover stolen property, including a gun.

Shortly before 10 a.m. Dec. 18 the police department received a report of a burglary in progress at a home in the 1700 block of Primrose Lane. The neighbor reporting the incident stated a man had been seen jumping over a fence and climbing into the house through a window.

Officers set up around the residence and arrested two 15-year-old boys as they left the home. The boys were in possession of backpacks loaded down with stolen property, including a gun belonging to the homeowner, said Turlock Police spokesperson Officer Mayra Lewis.

The home had been ransacked, Lewis said.

The teenagers, one from Modesto and the other from Merced, were arrested for burglary and possession of stolen property.
