Turlock felon attempts to sell shotgun to juveniles

A 56-year-old Turlock felon, who appeared to be intoxicated at the Costa Fields sports complex in Ceres, was arrested Wednesday for allegedly attempting to sell a short barrel shotgun and ammunition to juveniles. 

Ceres Police officers were dispatched to Smyrna Park at 1:09 p.m. and quickly found Benjamin Lopez and the items in his white Toyota Corolla. Lopez was booked into jail at the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of driving under the influence, being a felon in possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition, possession of a short barrel shotgun and possession of a firearm without serial numbers.
