Turlock man sustains major injuries in Modesto crash
emergency

A Turlock man was critically injured in a solo vehicle collision Monday night in Modesto.

Carter Nelson, 21, of Turlock sustained major injuries in the collision said Modesto Police Department spokesperson Sharon Bear. Nelson is currently in stable condition.

The collision happened at 10:30 p.m. Monday on Claus Road.

Nelson was driving his 2003 Honda Civic southbound on Claus Road, when he suddenly lost control of the car.

The Civic traveled off the road and struck a tree, Bear said.

Nelson was taken by ambulance to a Modesto area hospital.

The police department has determined that speed was a factor in the collision, but are awaiting toxicology results to learn if alcohol or drugs were factors.
