Turlock, Modesto team up to offer Neighborhood Watch Academy

The Turlock Police Department is partnering with the Modesto Police Department to offer a Neighborhood Watch Academy on May 10.
The academy will take place at the Modesto Police Department located at 600 10th St., Modesto, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on May 10. The program is designed to provide Turlock and Modesto Neighborhood Watch captains with information that can help make both cities safer.
The academy will cover topics such as Neighborhood Watch, identify theft, gang awareness, personal safety, Crime Stoppers and crime prevention and awareness will be discussed.
Neighborhood Watch captains wishing to attend should register early. There is limited space in the academy and registration is required. Captains interested in attending, or those who want to start a Neighborhood Watch group, should contact Turlock Police Department Crime Prevention Officer Backeroff at 656-3153, or mbackeroff@turlock.ca.us.
The Turlock Police Department is an active participant in the Crime Stoppers Program. Callers can leave an anonymous tip by calling Crime Stoppers at 521-4636 and may be eligible for a cash reward.
