Two men were killed in a head-on collision just east of Denair on Saturday morning.

The deceased were identified as Saul Jimenez-Preiado, 23, of Cressey and Jose Pereira, 52, of Livingston.

The deadly collision happened at 1:20 a.m. Saturday on North Hickman Road, just north of Monte Vista Avenue.

Jimenez-Preiado was driving a Ford Explorer south on Hickman Road when the vehicle drifted into the northbound lane and struck the Ford Ranger, driven by Pereira.

The two vehicles collided head-on, resulting in major front-end damage on both vehicles.

The Denair Fire Department and medical personnel responded to the scene and began life-saving measures on both men, but the injuries were too severe and both died at the scene, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The investigation into the collision is ongoing and it is unknown at this point if drugs or alcohol played a factor in the crash.
