A Turlock man has been arrested on two counts of attempted homicide for shooting two men visiting from Florida.

Turlock Police detectives arrested Hector Andres Reynoso, 37, on June 6 for the shooting. Reynoso remains in custody at the Stanislaus County Jail in lieu of a $500,000 bail.

The shooting happened just before 6 p.m. Monday in the 900 block of Chestnut Street. The first officers to arrive at the scene found one man on Chestnut and another around the corner on Julian. Both had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and were rushed to nearby hospitals.

Jill Schlegel, said on Facebook that her son-in-law, Dallas Vincent, 24, was one of the men shot. She stated the injuries were critical, but that he has regained consciousness and is expected to recover from the injuries. The other man who was shot sustained non-life-threatening injuries, according to the police department.

The two men are from Florida and were visiting friends and family in Bakersfield. They were driving a vehicle that belongs to one of the Bakersfield family members. It’s unknown what led them to Turlock and what transpired before they were shot. Schlegel said she thought it might have been a robbery because her son-in-law did not have any cash on him, though he usually carries some.

The police department has not offered any information on motive and stated the investigation is ongoing.
