Current construction at Dutcher Middle School led workers to find a time capsule dating back to 1990 when the school was still Turlock Junior High.  The school's principal Scott Lucas said workers discovered two coffee cans Thursday morning behind the student services office, which used to be the main office during that time period.

"I brought the items to my office and started opening up stuff that wasn't destroyed.  A lot of it had water damage and had to be tossed, but within the cans there were some zip lock bags that contained letters and newspaper articles and cassette tapes," said Lucas.

One of the prediction letters found in the time capsule was written by Pitman teacher Jennifer (Acha) Olsen. Lucas stated that the prediction letters were pretty interesting and was surprised the cassette tape, one side labeled "Milli Vanilli" was still in playing condition. The time capsule was put together and buried by Donna Snell's 7th grade 4th period science class on Jan. 19, 1990. Lucas stated he would be putting the contents in a safe place and hopes to reconnect the letters to those who wrote them. Anyone who was a part of the project is invited to stop by Dutcher and view the items.
