The Turlock Unified School District Board of Directors will likely make a decision regarding 10 layoffs to state preschool teacher aides and para-professionals during Tuesday’s board meeting at the Performing Arts Building at Turlock High School.

“Right now, my understanding is that we (TUSD) are looking at a 15 percent reduction in funding from the State of California,” explained TUSD Human Resource Director Heidi Lawler. “This is a valued program and the goal is to continue to provide preschool, not to eliminate the entire program.”

Following the layoff notices, TUSD officials with negotiate with the California School Employees Association (CSEA), to possibly bring the aides back with reduced pay.
