City offices to close for furloughs

The Turlock City Council adopted a schedule for worker furlough days which will see city offices close three days this year.

All city offices will close on Nov. 12, Dec. 23 and Dec. 30.

While only Turlock City Employee Association employees adopted furlough days as part of labor negotiations in the most recent budget cycle, adopted Aug. 24, most city offices would only have one employee without TCEA workers. As such, the City opted to completely close the offices on furlough days, also saving utility costs.

The Nov. 12 and Dec. 23 closures will be due to furlough days owed to TCEA members, with manager and confidential groups agreeing to take the days off using vacation or comp time. The Dec. 30 closure will be taken as a floating holiday for TCEA members.
