As part of his ongoing effort to utilize social media to spotlight and thank veterans for their service, Congressman Jeff Denham’s latest Thank-A-Vet Thursday video honors Turlock resident and U.S. Navy Veteran Al Menshew, who served his country during the Korean War.

Shared on Rep. Denham’s FacebookTwitter and YouTube pages, the video is an excerpt of an interview conducted by Denham staff member and Marine Corps veteran Eddie Mendoza as part of Rep. Denham’s ongoing efforts with the Library of Congress Veterans History Project.

Al Menshew enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1948 at age 17. He served two tours in Korea as a storekeeper aboard the U.S.S. Badoeng Strait and the U.S.S. Jenkins respectively, taking part in the Inchon Invasion and Pusan Perimeter campaign among others. He was awarded the Congressional Unit Citation, Korean Presidential Unit Citation, Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Medal, Korean United Nations Medal, American Korean Conflict Medal with four combat stars, and China Service Medal.

His story is shared as part of Rep. Denham’s #TVT social media initiative to thank veterans for their service. Rep. Denham invites and encourages social media users to post photos and videos using #TVT to recognize America’s military veterans. All #TVT videos can be found on Rep. Denham’s YouTube channel and official Facebook page.
