Anglicans find new church home
Placeholder Image

The Grace Anglican Church, formerly the St. Francis Anglican Church, is moving into their new home Sunday at First Christian Church.

St. Francis Anglican Church had called the quaint church at 915 E. Main Street their home since 1948, but a split with the national church led them to surrender their claim on the property.

The new parish will meet at the old church at 2:45 p.m. Sunday and then lead a procession to their new spiritual home at 180 S. Denair Ave. The parishioners will be joined by other parishes and their bishop. The community is invited to join in the procession or meet at the new site.

The church had been involved in a lengthy lawsuit with the Episcopal Diocese of San Joaquin when it was one of several churches that split from the national organization over theological differences.
