For over 20 years, the Turlock community has gathered in the lush gardens of The Greenery Nursery to support the Carnegie Arts Center.

"It started out as the Carnegie's membership drive...and now we have such a strong membership community, the event serves as a community fundraiser," said Carnegie Arts Director Lisa McDermott.

The Garden Party, set for June 20, will feature work from regional artists, live jazz music and delicious bites from local restaurants.

A photograph by local artist Edward Mendes, titled "Calla Lily Trio," will also be raffled off.

"It's a terrific piece to have as our raffle event because it reflects the garden theme nicely," said McDermott.

Approximately 20 artists will have their work on display in the non-juried, all-inclusive venue. The art on display "runs the gamut," according to McDermott, including ceramics, paintings and photography.

"It's the one time during the year where we open the door like that to all our regional artists to show their work like that," she said.

"Art is so personal, it gives artists the opportunity to share whatever they want with the public."

The Carnegie is still accepting works for display from regional artists. Up to five pieces of original art can be submitted for the exhibition. For more information, visit http://www.carnegieartsturlock.org/#!call-for-entries/cdn5 or call 632-5761.

Along with the exhibition, guests will also be able to appreciate the art of food from the following local eateries: Lola Bistro, Green Grub, Dust Bowl Brewery, Toscana’s Ristorante, Table 26, Mundo’s, Latif’s, Angelini’s and Nella Bella Fizz.

"The focus really is on enjoying the artwork, the company, the garden and the food," said McDermott.

The Garden Party will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. June 20 at The Greenery, 742 E. Olive Ave., Turlock. Tickets are $35 for Carnegie members and $50 for non-members and can be purchased at CarnegieGarden2015.Eventbrite.com or at the Carnegie office, 250 N. Broadway.
