A quick response from the Turlock Fire Department kept a fire from spreading at the Go Green Recycling facility Tuesday afternoon.
The fire was reported around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at the recycling plant at 1600 McCormick Street.
The fire originated in a swamp cooler on top of the roof, according to the fire department. The spread of the fire was stopped within minutes of the engine companies’ arrival and the damage was limited to the cooler system.
There was no damage to the building and the integrity of the roof was not compromised, Turlock Fire Battalion Chief Gary Lunsford reported.
The damage to the swamp cooler was estimated by the fire department at $500.
