Free child car seat safety check in Turlock

The Health Services Agency’s Keep Baby Safe Program will conduct a free car seat safety inspection event from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. May 26, at the Turlock Walmart parking lot, located at 2111 Fulkerth Road.

Certified technicians will inspect car seats and booster seats for recalls and instruct parents and care givers on proper installation. This event is the perfect time to provide parents and caregivers the opportunity to learn how to install and use the child safety seat correctly.

Approximately 70 percent of all children are not properly secured in a child safety seat. Most collisions occur within less than five miles from home. Properly securing a child in a child safety seat significantly reduces the risk of him or her suffering serious injuries or death.

The car seat inspection event is being conducted as part of the second year of funding from a grant provided by the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and granted to the HSA KBS Program with the collaboration of members from Safe Kids Coalition and ten Family Resource Centers in the County: North Modesto/Salida FRC, Oakdale FRC, Sierra Vista Drop-In Center, Parent Resource Center (Modesto and Airport), Patterson FRC, Newman FRC Ceres Partnership, Hughson FRC and Turlock FRC.

Anyone unable to attend or who would like more car seat information may contact Stanislaus County Health Services Agency Keep Baby Safe Program at 558-7400.
