JANUARY EVENTS AT THE LIBRARY

Turlock:

This January the Turlock Library will offer crafts for all ages, a community book club event, and a day of LEGO play for children and their families.

Children will learn how to make a Frosty Puppet Pal at 4 p.m. Tuesday. The library will supply paper bags and assorted craft materials which crafters may use to personalize their puppets.

The Turlock Library Book Club will meet at 10:30 a.m. Jan. 7 to discuss "Turn of Mind" by Alice LaPlante. Book clubs at the library provide community members the opportunity to enrich their understanding and enjoyment of books through meaningful discussion. A limited number of copies are available for checkout at the library. For more information, contact the Turlock Library Reference Desk at 664-8100.

All ages can participate in the library’s Craft-a-palooza at 4 p.m. Jan. 13. Crafters can choose from a variety of craft materials to create unique works of art.

Children, tweens and teens can take part in a Sock-topus Craft at 4 p.m. Jan. 20. Participants will learn how to turn knee socks into colorful octopuses. A limited number of knee socks will be available to use; crafters are encouraged to bring knee socks of any color or design to personalize their octopuses.

Children and their families can visit the library at 3:30 p.m. on Jan. 27 to build LEGO displays for the library. LEGO play encourages creativity and fine motor development in children of all ages. Children under the age of 4 are welcome to participate, however they must have direct parental supervision.

 Denair:

The Denair Library will offer free programs for children and teens this month, beginning with a snowman puppet craft at 3 p.m. Jan. 7. The library will provide paper bags and craft supplies so that crafters may personalize their snowman puppets.

Children and their families can learn how to make a miniature unicorn hobby horse at 3 p.m. Jan. 21. The finished hobby horse will be the perfect size for a child’s stuffed animal or doll.

Teens can create unique Perler Bead designs at 3 p.m. Jan. 28. Participants can make a number of colorful crafts to take home, including coasters and key chains.

Keyes:

Stop by the Keyes Library at 1 p.m. Jan. 14 for a party celebrating Disney's "Frozen." Children can make snowflake wands, paint a picture of Olaf, play a snowball toss game, and test their "Frozen" knowledge with a quiz. Snacks will also be served. Participants can come in costume, however, costumes are not required.
