Boyett Petroleum’s Make Dreams Real Endowment Fund announced the grant recipients for the2013 funding cycle. Recipients of funding grants for 2013 include: Modesto Sunrise Rotary Club, Stanislaus Union School District, Salida Union School District, Riverbank Language Academy, Riverbank Unified School District, Empire Union School District, Juline Foundation for Children, Society for Handicapped Children & Adults and Walnut Grove School (Patterson).

A bicycle camp for children with various disabilities, Foothill Horizons Outdoor Education Camp and a dance program at Everett Elementary School are among the projects supported by the recipients of more than $78,000 in grants. Since the inception of the fund in 2010, more than $209,000 has been donated to community programs.

The Make Dreams Real Endowment Fund’s mission is making dreams real for school-aged children in Stanislaus County through participation in programs that enrich and stimulate their minds and bodies and teach values through service learning. The service learning component consists of a process of accountability and volunteerism in the community through collaboration with student and parent support groups. The Make Dreams Real Advisory Board, which includes Carl, Carole, Dale and Kirstie Boyett, among local retired educators and community leaders, believes that children and parents that engage in a service learning process achieve greater success in the programs and lasting changes in character.

The Make Dreams Real Endowment Fund, held at the Stanislaus Community Foundation, has been built through proceeds from the annual Make Dreams Real Golf Tournament, held each May. Boyett Petroleum underwrites the tournament, paying for all expenses, thus ensuring that 100 percent of the financial contributions made by golfers, charity sale purchases and sponsorships are contributed to the Endowment Fund. The 2013 golf tournament netted more than $255,000. The 25th Annual Make Dreams Real Golf Tournament, which will be hosted at three golf courses, is scheduled for May 7, 2014 at La Contenta, Greenhorn Creek and Saddle Creek Golf Clubs in Calaveras County.

The 2014 grant application process will begin in February 2014 and will be available on the website in January. Organizations with programs for school aged children that are aligned with Make Dream Real’s mission and vision are encouraged to apply for matching grants for amounts up to $10,000.
