History business:

Those in search of a unique, Asian-inspired menu need to search no further than Quickly, Turlock’s newest stop for bubble tea.

“I just thought that it could be something different for the city,” said owner Jack Wu. “There aren’t a lot of bubble tea shops here, so I thought that Turlock might be a good fit.”

Quickly caters to a younger crowd, said Wu, as made evident by the board games available for play in the shop. The tea shop is located just down the road from Stanislaus State, making it the perfect place to stop for a study break.

“It’s a great place for them to hang out after school,” said Wu. “They can do homework, hang out or play games.”

Quickly is known for its bubble tea — a milky-textured tea that can be ordered in various flavors. The milky tea is often referred to as bubble tea, pearl milk tea or “the drink with the fat straw.” Bubble tea is typically served over boba, which are small, chewy tapioca balls that come in different colors and flavors, giving the tea a unique taste.

Along with boba, Quickly also provides other toppings for bubble tea, such as jellies and fruits.

“Not everyone likes the texture of boba, so we have over a dozen different toppings,” said Wu.

In addition to bubble tea, Quickly serves other drinks like smoothies and milkshakes. The shop also offers other food and snacks, such as sweet potato fries, mozzarella sticks, popcorn chicken and Japanese-inspired egg puffs, which are a cross between a pancake and cupcake, said Wu. He hopes that the shop’s distinctive menu options keep customers coming back.

“I don’t think there’s anything in Turlock that’s comparable to what I’m offering,” said Wu.

Quickly posts deals on Instagram often, such as buy one, get one free deals, and can be followed at @quicklyturlock.

“We just try to keep it interesting,” said Wu.
